Witch Haus of Gaga

As it's a bit boring to indulge in the virulent whirlwind that overtakes those trying to assess the validity of Lady Gaga's monster fame, let's talk music. On her latest, Born This Way, "Bloody Mary" snakes forward as the darkest, most musically modern track on the album and deserves a closer listen. The song undeniably incorporates genre markers of clubland's foggiest darling, Witch House. A known champion of genderfuck, Gaga even does drag vocals as her mezzo morphs into deeper reaches with a ghoulish pitch shift. Syrupy beats drive slow and sinister synths that churn beneath her mournful Mary Magdalene homage and you just gotta wonder, has she heard her old tracks chopped and screwed in those horror-laced Mater Suspiria Vision mixes?
